Hello all, I'm named in honour of Collingwood's dog. I can't guarantee that I won't fall overboard in the night, or that I will bark much, but I'm here. Just don't call me Pet.

I'm interested in Naval History from 1793 - date, and will from time to time keep an eye on what's going on. In terms of research I've been around ship's musters, pay books and Marines establishment books in the National Archives a liitle bit.

Hello Bounce (Arthur),

Glad to have you as a member of our board. We've only been up and running for a week so I'm still posting topics to try and encourage people to sign up and participate, as always, a board is only as good as the content, and that comes from everyone. Can I ask what made you research the muster books and establishment books? do you have a particular area of maritime life that you consider yourself particularly knowledgeable of?

By the way, I'm a big fan of Collingwood, as he is almost from my part of the world :D

Among several other things I have tried to research the career of every William Smith at Trafalgar. "If a task is easy, its not worth doing".

I too have a particular interest in Collingwood and have most of the books written about him on my shelf. On only a very few bookshelves does Collingwood outnumber Nelson.

I firmly expect to be roundly outclassed as those more knowledgable than I gravitate to this forum.
